On the second day of the international conference âNature protection in military areasâ, field trip to the Eastern Bakony project location provided ground for the participants to explore, the protected and invasive species, the conservation actions of the Eastern-Bakony Project (LIFE07 NAT/H/000321), aiming to rehabilitate protected sand land habitats implemented by the Economic Office of the Hungarian Ministry of Defence together with the Balaton Uplands National Park Directorate, VERGA Forestry Co. and Aquaprofit Co.

Mr. Andrås Demeter PhD, advisor at the European Commission Directorate-General for the Environment Directorate B - Natural Capital, Brussels presented the most recent information regarding the upcoming LIFE programme, at the international conference on 14-16 May 2014, in Veszprém, Hungary, in the framework of the Eastern-Bakony Project (LIFE07 NAT/H/000321) and the Hungarian Little Plain Project (LIFE08 NAT/H/000289).

100 applicants from 13 countries took part of the international conference on 14-16 May 2014, in Veszprém, Hungary, in the framework of the Eastern-Bakony Project (LIFE07 NAT/H/000321) and the Hungarian Little Plain Project (LIFE08 NAT/H/000289), which both aims to rehabilitate protected sand land habitats on areas used by Military Forces.

The most significant projects in the field of nature conservation, species protection and habitat rehabilitation funded in the framework of the LIFE program were introduced on 20 May 2012. So was Kelet-Bakony.

The conference, dealing with issues of nature conservation on the European grasslands (steppes), called SteppenlebensrĂ€ume Europas â GefĂ€hrdung, ErhaltungsmaĂnahmen und Schutz was held 03 -06. June 2012. The participants represented several countries, such as Austria, Bulgaria, Poland, Ukraine and Hungary. Mr Imre Petroczi, deputy director of the Balatonfelvidek National Park, too attended the conference.
